Arupadai Veedu Konda Thiru Muruga-(six Abodes of Lord Muruga)

In Tamil Nadu as the popular maxim goes, "Wherever there is a mount there is a shrine for lord Muruga".Lord Muruga - called by various favourite names like Karthilkeya, Arumuga, Shanmuga, Guhan, Skanda, Subramanya and Kumara - by his ardent devotees - is a Hindu god. He is considered to be the son of Lord Shiva - the Hindu God of distruction and the brother of Lord Ganesh - the most famous elephant headed god of India.

Coming to the six holy abodes of Muruga as declared by the Tamil poet Nakeerar in his late Sangam period classic of Murugan devotion,Based on his life cycle are:

1. Palani - Standing on the hill with anger(from the child hood)
   
2. Swami Malai - Sitting as a Guru to teach the pranava mantra "Om"(child hood)
3. Thiruchendur - Fighting with the Demon King Surapathman and win the battle(as a youth)
4. Thiruparamkundram - Married Goddess Deivanai as the gift for winning the battle
5. Thiruthani - soften and calm himself (and married Goddess valli)
6. Palamuthircholai - Blessing the devotees with his two wives,Valli and Deivanai

This phenomena was sung by Nakkeerar(Tamil poet),when Lord Muruga asked him to lineup the "Abodes", that Muruga resides. A lovely song in a Tamil Film called "Kandhan Karunai" (The Mercy of Lord Muruga) may describe this to the viewers.It's as follows:-
