About

This hub is about a Sage of the Islam called Sarkarai peer oliyullah, who had been there in Keelavazhavu (Keelavalavu also) at the time of the mogul emperor "Auvrangazeb",who had ruled over India. One of the resident of Keelavalavu, Alavudeen, told that, during the time of the reign of the mogul emperor Avurangazeb, some Islam sages would come to the south Tamil Nadu,in order to spread the Islamic religious prophecies. Among the prophets, here came the prophet Sarkarai peer oliyullah.

Alavudeen is having one shop of electrical and repair in keelavalavu, and had been there for more than 3 generations. From his statement, his father Hajee Abdul khadher, was the former asarath of the said "Sarkarai peer oliyullah thargah". In the childhood of Alavudeen,,he came to know about the stories of the "Sarkarai peer oliyullah thargah".

Our trekking to the hillock began...

As i don't have much about that place,i arranged three boys of the local area, namely Arunkumar,Prabhakar, sameer,to help me in this trip to the top of the hiilock. Myself and the three boys went to the base of the hill trough a shortcut.

On the way to the hillock,a very famous Hindu temple called "sudukattu Kaliamman",is standing majestically on the banks of a very huge water catchment area. We saw people, are taking bath, and the small boys are swimming here and there.

This is the base ot the Sarkarai baba hill

At the base a very huge rock is standing Majestically - telling the glory of the ancient past - that they are the only evidence of the everlasting memories

We all the four, started to climb up the hill, while the sun is playing hide and seek with the clouds. That time not so much of heat is there, we all enjoy the climate very much.

These are the two natural springs found under the hillock

The local people of Keelavalavu, use this spring water, as their main source of drinking water, once upon a time. Now,they have the water connections within their municipal limit. Even though, for the marriages and festival, these people use this water.

on the way to the top - we can able to see the trees and plantations of various kinds

You can see a painting detail on the rock describing the fees for the animal sacrifices

Their rituals as like as one those of Hindus are following

The people in Keelavalavu, and outside pray here for their wishes to be fulfilled, and when get fulfilled, they give sheep and cock as their sacrifices. They call the local 'Asarath' (like a guru), and say the 'Paathia', (the ritual of sacrificing the animals like sheep, cock), and do the sacrifice then cook it and share it with all the people who have come there.

What you see on the rock as a painting is the charge to be given to the 'Jamaath" ( a collection of identical people in a particular area), for the sacrifices they would have done there. They have charged Rs.50/- for the sheep and Rs.20/- for the cock.

Half way to the top...You can see the water is flowing slowly on the rock itself

The local boys are moving towards the water flowing area

They reach very near to it

One of the boy called Arunkumar reached the top and taste the water

You see - he quench his thirst...

On the way to hill-top, the boys have told me the local stories of "Sarkarai Baba" and his glory. Again they also told that in the hill, at the top, there was one tree with out any leaves (except this one),in which a poisonous insect called "Kathanthu" had been there,so some precaution might be there, when reaching the top.

This is the only tree found there without any leaves - in which the poisonous "Katahnthu" - lives as a flock

The people will meet death - if biten by the 'Kathanthu'- if uncared

The boys said that if those 'Kathanthu',bites any body, they could meet death, if not taken to the hospital, with in half an hour.

This view is taken from the top of the hillock

The beautiful view of the city at bottom... Where the quary activities have been taken place...

Wow ! beautiful location at the bottom

The hill was previously occupied by the local quary people - Now it self also the remaining works have taken place - after the ban by the High court

The boy are standing near the danger area - where the hill has been sliced as birthday cake

Now we reach the place where the cave of the sage Sarkarai peer oliyullah

This is the front of the cave.....where Sarkarai Baba resides...

In front of the cave - there is a lamp post for lighting up the Deepam - means flame of fire in glass box - not disturbed by the air

These are the places where the flames are lightened up - as the customs followed by Hindus

This is one side of the cave - where one can sit and sleep

This is the entrance of the cave - where the boys are posing

This is one perfect view of the Sarkarai Baba's cave

This is another side of the cave

Here is the place where the sage Sarkarai BaBa resides as "Samaathi"

Here lies the sage Sarkarai Peer Oliyullah... as live in the heart of the people who resides around the area

After this area nobody could enter as the cave goes where it never ends

Actually, people said that Sarkarai Baba once entered into the cave, and never returned back. What we see in the form of 'Samaathi' is the artificial one, erected by the people, in respect of the sage "Sarkarai Peer Oliyullah".

People said that Sarkarai Baba lived the heart of the people residing around the area, and do miracles,to the people who have come to him with the faith of healing their wounds both on the body and mind.

The " Treasure Hill " as people call this hill by another name

For what reason they call this as the "Treasure Hill", when i asked, one man laughed and said that suppose it would be noticed in prior that it would be cut into pieces and sold for a best rate.

A very old man here, resides near the mosque of Keelavalavu, said that at the year 1992,the government - "Tamin", a department assigned for the quarry activities, have leased it to a private party, and he did the major destruction to this hill which is one of the antiques of India.

Anyhow it's duty of every individual to preserve their antiques and heritage, which will be the assets of our coming generation.

Meeting you on the another one as such...

Till then bye....

Friendly yours
