Siddhar Padanjali - Inventor of the Yoga Sastra - means inventor of Yoga

Among the 18 siddhas,he is considered as the prime siddha, since he had been living " 5 yugas and 7 days"(approximately, one yuga = more than lakhs of years). The next come is the maha siddha "Agasthiyar",who had been living " 4 Yugas and 48 days).

All the Disciples except "Gowda baatha" Burnt into ash - When they tried to dismantle the hard screen

Padanjali wanted to teach his disciples, about his book "Viagarana sutram" in direct, made a hard screen in between them so that the exhaustion couldn't do any harm. While doing so,the disciples, with over exaggeration, wanted to see the face of their Guru (teacher). They left the screen,in between them, and at once, all of them died, without tolerating the exhaust-breathe of their guru.

When Gowda batha returned, he understood that what could have been occured. So,he became Padanjali's only one disciple and learnt everyting, that his guru could had.

The Legend

In Hinduism, the god for the creation is Lord "Brammah".According to our Hindu mythology,He who writes the fate of the 'Humans',how he would live in his life-hood.In our case,"Athiri maharishi" is the son of Lord Brammah, and he,who is the first brightening star of the Galaxy. He is the life-partner of "Anusuyaa devi",who had transformed the three gods, namely Lord Brammah,Lord Vishnu,Lord Shiva into 3 infants, with the power of her chastity,When the gods tested her chastity. As his name implied, sage Athiri was the possessor of all the three qualities of " Sat (pure),Raja (medium) and Tama (dark) and was a supreme devotee.Similarly, his better half,Anusuya was also a fierce devotee.

Here comes "Padanjali Siddha" is the son of the sage 'Athri maharishi' and matha "Anusuya devi"

Padanjali siddha is the incarnation of the "Aathiseshasan", the five-headed,very huge snake, being used as the sleeping bed of Lord Vishnu,at "Paarkadal",an ocean of celestials, from which, the "Ambrosia" (The food of the gods, thought to confer immortality) had been digg out.

His "breathe of exhaust" is full of deadly poison, for that,he didn't contact his disciples,in direct when preaching.
